Cries in the wind

Other times I feel her
Calling for me to stop

She is the soul of man
And takes everything I give her

Many times unfit unclean
And against her nature

She radiates unconditional love
Deep from within her core

Moving mountains guiding rivers
Encouraging everything to grow

Yes she is magical
And she is fragile

She is below me
She is above me

She is my protection
And power giver

A sustainer of life
Unknown to many

Unless you are willing to be still
And listen

A harmonious orb flying through space
At a million miles per measure

She has feelings she is alive
And wants the best for her children

All she asks is for you to share her wealth
And not squander it

Take what you need
And save the rest for others

Take some time to sit with her
And you will be healed

Here it comes, a brand new year

after all of the Holiday cheer

I can’t seem to shake this gnawing fear…

Fear of what?  I don’t really know

perhaps my resistance to go with the flow

or the sense that events will happen too slow

yet I keep moving forward a bit each day

trying to get my self out of the way

I replace my worry as I begin to pray

and the Truth comes to set me free

patiently waiting to be expressed through me

and allow my Self to be all I can be

I now know my fear, I fear my own Light

I choose not to judge whether it is wrong or right

I’ll allow my True Self to shine so bright

some may be blinded and choose to run

because I burn hot like the shining sun

But they will only miss out on all the fun

of the possibility of the coming day

and the heart felt expression I’m here to relay

I wrote this one for my brother-in-law and sister-in-law after my husband got a text from his brother that said now that both sons are going to college it is “killing us”.

Our house is not an empty nest
this dwelling is our home
extending love to our boys
wherever they may roam

and though our hearts are heavy
we are truly thrilled
seeing both sons off to college
our dreams are being fulfilled

Since before they were born
our lives were not our own
We are devoted to our children
unchanged now that they’re grown

So we’ll hold on to each other
adjust to the day to day
rekindle our life long romance
and find more time to play

And when we’re longing for our sons
and our emotions have us perplexed
we’ll just pick up the phone
or type out a quick text!

Memories 

I stand
At the doorframe
We painted together.
I remember
You painted the words
“Marry me, Heather”
I’ll never forget that day.

As I stand,
Against the doorframe,
I close my eyes.
More than tears fall down my face.
Memories.
Bringing them back brings
Both smiles, and more tears.

The time we sat on the hill
I was in my favourite dress
You were the same old joker.
Our picnic lunch lay forgotten
As we pulled each other close
And didn’t let go till after sundown.

The time
We walked down the aisle together.
You were smiling
As big as ever
At the front.
And walking next to Dad,
I felt
Like a million dollars.

Then you went away.
You promised it wouldn’t be long.
You wrote letters,
You told of how you missed me;
But the life over there,
Was like no other.
So incredibly different,
And you would go on
To tell me stories of
Your mates,
And blasts,
And everyday occurrences.
Thing that you’d
Normally only see in the news.

You sent me pictures
Too many to count.
But sweetheart,
I kept them all.

I move from the doorframe.
I open the box of
Your belongings.
Your last letter
That I ever
Received.
It was your happiest.

Then you stopped writing,
For a while.
I thought that
You must’ve been busy.
Don’t worry, Heather,
I told myself.
He’ll write another letter.

I received one,
Not long after.
It wasn’t your writing.
It was from your post.
Tenderly, I opened it.
It was your old mate Stevo.
Stevo had sent
His regards and condolences,
For Corporal Darren Smith
Had been fatally wounded.
He wrote
“We’ll miss old Dazza.
Sorry for your loss, Heather.”
I put the letter back
Put the box away.

All the while
Tears,
Stream like rivers from my eyes
Oh, Darren.
You fought for your country,
And how proud I am of that.

 
Essential Decisions

You change your mind
So many times;
I just don’t know how to feel.

If you say yes,
Then would I be a happy person?
Would we still be able to lie together
With our bodies keeping
The warmth in our hearts
Strong?

But if you say no,
Would I respect your mind?
The way you are
The way you feel?

And if I didn’t,
Would we fall
In love again?
Or apart?
Would we become
Two half people,
Forever looking
For our true soul mate
When we knew it was each other
The whole time?

For me,
Your smile
It’s just magical.
It lights up my entire day
You say my name
And I’m transported to somewhere else
Far away, up with the stars.

But please
Make a decision
That your heart knows is right,
For you must
Come out to dinner with me tonight.

When I Close My Eyes

When I close my eyes,

It all goes away.

The screams,

The yelling,

The violence,

All relinquished.

Fading into grey,

As the torturous truth,

Leads the way.

When I close my eyes,

It all goes away.

The words,

The sighs,

The cries,

All released.

Fading into black,

Your words still linger,

The silent attack.

The Benevolent Shepherd

Somewhere in the distance,
where trees no longer grow,
sits a merry cottage,
surrounded in snow.
 
Nobody visits,
And nobody’d dare,
But as they walk by,
The inhabitant stares.
 
And alone in that cottage,
A poor woman hides,
And she waits all alone,
While the rich live their lives.
 
Then one day,
A shepherd walks past,
And when he sees the cottage,
He walks to it fast.
 
And he knocks on the door,
Of the cottage, so gay,
As the woman inside,
Looks up in dismay.
 
She answers the door,
With a frown on her face,
As the visitor beams,
Her frown is replaced.
 
The woman grins,
And points inside,
She offers him a meal,
But then he denies. 
 
He gives her a sack,
And then walks away,
She opens the sack,
And then starts to pray.
 
The man turns around,
And smiles to himself,
He was somehow happier,
Without all his wealth.

Maybe It’s Because I Love You

Maybe it’s because I love you, that it hurt so much,

The truth, the lies,

Now combined,

But, boy, I miss you so much.

And still to this day,

I want to do it over,

Try again.

Breathe again.

Love again.

Maybe I’m a dreamer,

But it’s your word against mine,

Sure I’m a believer,

But, son, you just crossed the line.

Don’t hide,

Or run,

Or walk away.

Don’t leave,

Or cry,

Or curse the day.

Maybe it’s because I love you, that I never want you to go,

Or maybe, just maybe, you didn’t know.

Merci beaucoup,
It can only be you,
my hearts desire
to be on fire
with the Love
from the Dove
Spirit Divine
in the Mind
of God’s Beloved
Always recovered
in the Now
we allow
with the gust
of Spirit a must
giving the part
to God in my HEART

SWEET, TENDER AND LOVING

The truth is no matter
what tragedies or traumas
that happened in our past
there is a deep inner core of our being
that is sweet, tender and loving.
It is there – it is the true essence of who we are.
As a child I saw sexual and physical abuse
and it has affected my relationships.
Now in my quest to find out who I really am,
I am reliving the hurt and pain
buried so deep.
Accepting that it is time to let go,
yet not knowing what to hold onto
to show me the way.
And in the midst of the many negative memories
there is one very sweet memory.
I was fourteen, and in love with Billy.
We were lovers excited with the wonder
and desire of our young bodies.
Billy asked to see me naked,
he didn’t touch me,
he just adored me with his eyes.
It wasn’t dirty or exploitative,
we were just young and curious.
We didn’t have sex,
and I will always cherish that experience.
I felt my sexuality being born
with this gentle young man.
Having only felt that tender innocence
a couple of times in my lift – I forgot it existed.
It was buried under all the hurts of the past.
Yet in recalling those past experiences
this memory popped up like an anxious child
needing to be seen and heard.
Who I am is sweet, tender and loving,
standing in my nakedness once again.
Making a choice to connect with that inner core
that is strong and full of grace
yet forever sweet, tender and loving.
