River Rhythms

Through Desolation Canyon
which we simply call “Deso”
with the rhythms of the river
on the water we did flow                        

Jim a novice river rat
gave rough rapids a happy name
Fluffy Bunny Slipper Rapids
kept him in the paddling game

Art with his great good-humor
and his camping/boating expertise
met someone who lives a Day at a Time
and for that he was truly pleased

Kathy a true river lover
remembers a coyote friend
and enjoyed the hike to Rock Creek
watching the river below round the bend

Rina recalls big rapid days
and the buzzing of mosquitoes in her ear
sleeping under a full moon and shooting stars
and eating more brownies than she had all year

Sherie got to kayak again
and the animal stuff was her thrill
from the nesting birds called Vireos
to the fresh made cougar kill

Jake brought his youth and vigor
which was handy for heavy lifting
We all enjoyed his calm presence
like the river while we were drifting 

And bringing us all together, Dennis
our gratitude for him is beyond measure
for a fabulous Deso river trip
that we all will dearly treasure

Personalized Poems

Local poet writes verse for others as a form of “therapy.” Jayanne Sindt has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Development and Family Relations. Jayanne continues her education through personal discovery and spiritual endeavors. She attends workshops regularly and has completed A Course In Miracles and The Artist’s Way. She has also been writing poetry for 25 years. She enjoys getting together with creative friends and trying different crafts, but her hearts desire is to help others to find their verse. She began rhyming her way into solutions to problems as an adolescent and has worked through personal dramas using verse for others as well as for her self. She recently opened her office (based in her home) to clients. She provides “therapeutic verse” sessions for affirmation, clarification, and finding solutions.

Therapeutic verse is provided in one session; lasting about an hour. Jayanne uses her intuitive skills to listen and connect with a client in order to efficiently scribe a poem that provides clarity, offers hope, and/or finds a solution for the client’s dilemma. Most of the session is used to connect with the client; the actual writing of the poem takes minutes. The client then leaves the session with an original poem by Jayanne. The poem serves as an affirmation, a clarification, and /or solution by the final stanza. This is convenient as the poem can be referred to at any time. The client keeps all copies, retains all rights to the poem, and may reproduce it in any way and claim any type of ownership of it.
