Our house is not an empty nest
this dwelling is our home
extending love to our boys
wherever they may roam
and though our hearts are heavy
we are truly thrilled
seeing both sons off to college
our dreams are being fulfilled
Since before they were born
our lives were not our own
We are devoted to our children
unchanged now that they’re grown
So we’ll hold on to each other
adjust to the day to day
rekindle our life long romance
and find more time to play
And when we’re longing for our sons
and our emotions have us perplexed
we’ll just pick up the phone
or type out a quick text!
